About Us:
Little Corner Pictures is a mission-driven video production house in Melbourne, committed to authentic storytelling. We celebrate the diversity of human experience and believe in the transformative power of film to inspire, educate, and catalyse positive change in society.
The house is founded by Mercedeh, an Iranian-Australian filmmaker who specialises in cultural storytelling by and for diverse communities, reflecting the experiences, histories, and identities of various cultural, linguistic, and ability-diverse groups.
Mercedeh holds a PhD in Cultural Studies from Deakin University. Her career began with research and teaching in academia, followed by a decade in schools. Eventually, she transitioned to community work, engaging with people in their everyday lives. Through teaching, support, and storytelling, she has been empowering people living with disabilities and individuals from CALD (Culturally and Linguistically Diverse) backgrounds, and others who face barriers related to age, gender and socio-economic status.
Mercedeh is an authority on cultural analysis and authentic storytelling in film. Since the onset of the 2020 pandemic, she has produced numerous educational materials. She also offers consultation services on diversity and inclusion in media and teaches organisations strategies for cross-cultural communication.
