Why I’ve chosen to be a videographer despite the long hours of filming and 10 times as longer hours of editing?

Here’s the behind the scenes of one of the not-for-profit videos I have recently produced. In the full video (which is on my not-for-profit videos page, Hamed Allahyari shares the story of his journey as a refugee and starting his business Salamatea Café and restaurant as a social enterprise in Melbourne, serving Persian food with a mission to employ asylum seekers. We chatted in Farsi, which felt right to both of us.

As a videographer in Melbourne, I feel, sometimes, I should donate my time to important communities in Australia, and in Particular in Melbourne where I live. So, on Saturday, 15 of April, my friend, Andrew (who became the host of the show) and I visited one of the old and beautiful markets in Melbourne, held every Saturday in a bush setting, where you can enjoy music, food, workshops and much more.

Australia has a big fish culture which I learned about a little when I was travelling in Tropical North Queensland where I made some of my documentary Sister Kenny’s Method earlier this year. Here’s my encounter with a fisherman releasing a baby hammerhead shark.

This is a blog about the second day of my road trip to the north of Australia and back to the south via the outback.

This is a short blog about the first day of my road trip to Cairns, QLD, in the north of Australia, then back to the south via the outback – I drove from Charters Towers to Roma, then (I had to drive further to the west because of the floods) to Charleville, and finally, I was southbound to Melbourne.

In this film, Ray McLaren tells his stories of film photography beginning with the Little Brownie 127, the first camera he bought for 21 shillings. He generously gives us a tour of his cameras, talks about his colourful career, and shares some of his personal stories. Since filming was completed, Ray has sold most of his cameras.
